CHURCH IN ACTION

 A SPECIAL REPORT

ANNUAL MEETING 1976

From the August 1976 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Together we can make this year a turning point," Mother Church members attending this year's Annual Meeting were told. "We have the key to overcoming any want: the superiority of spiritual power, and the vision to trust that power," The Christian Science Board of Directors said.

The meeting convened in Boston on Monday morning, June 7, and one of the highlights was a special talk by Robert Peel entitled, "Trial and Triumph: Our Leader's Vision for Her Church." It illustrated how Mary Baker Eddy, even in moments of triumph, humbly petitioned God for the strength and guidance she needed.

The overall theme of this year's meeting was "Show Me, Shepherd," and each of the follow-up sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday took its lead from the first verse of Mrs. Eddy's poem, "'Feed My Sheep.'"See Poems by Mrs. Eddy, p. 14;
