The greatest gift I have ever received is that of being raised in Christian Science. I have found this Science offers the most effective means for healing sickness and comforting distress. Gratitude for having Christian Science class instruction while still in my teens, and for numerous healings, fills my heart.
Until recently I had not had to deal with a severe illness. During college I actively used Science as a preventive and curative method for academic and social problems, as well as minor physical difficulties. In my final quarter I was putting finishing touches on a vocal senior recital I'd been working on for nearly a year. Three weeks before the performance I suddenly became very ill. My entire mouth and throat were affected, and for three days I was unable to attend classes.
I asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, because I could not read with comprehension, eat, or think clearly. Fear and pain, as well as anxiety regarding the recital, my courses, and approaching graduation, overwhelmed me. At this time I flew home, where a local practitioner prayed for me. The work was performed faithfully and joyously, and it helped me tremendously.
