The isles shall wait upon me (Isa. 51:5)
The poet-prophet, living in the period of the Exile, has a world sense that is one of the widest in Hebrew Scripture. He sings of a time when the laws and authority of the God of Israel will have "global" recognition, extending to the far coastal areas of the Mediterranean.
The redeemed of the Lord shall return . . . unto Zion (Isa. 51:11)
