While visiting relatives at the age of five I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School for just four months. What I learned during this short time laid a strong foundation and convinced me I could not be satisfied with the teachings of any other denomination.
Since then I have seen many demonstrations of God's healing power. When I was about eighteen, I was completely healed of infantile paralysis after six weeks of being paralyzed from the waist down. I also witnessed my mother's healing of cancer of the bone.
It was my privilege to have Christian Science class instruction several years before my children were born. This provision helped me to deal effectively with the birth defects my second child suffered from. Her face was deformed, and she was not able to support her head. My husband and I prayed diligently to correct this condition, and we had help from a Christian Science practitioner, but at six months the child was not improved. Only on rare occasions did I take her out in public because of the remarks made about her looks.
