Freedom from hypnotic control

From the September 1980 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The young man on stage thought he was John Travolta. When asked his name, that's the one he gave. When autographing a girl's notebook, that's the name he wrote. He even disco-danced for us!

Those of us in the audience knew, of course, that he wasn't really John Travolta but a student in our high school, who had permitted himself to be hypnotized for this school assembly program.

Then another student volunteered, but the hypnotist was unable to mesmerize him. Later, when asked why he couldn't be hypnotized, the student answered, "I don't believe in it!"
