Stopping inflation

From the September 1980 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Inflation. Rising prices threaten to place goods and services beyond the purchasing power of many individuals, families, communities, and nations. Governments attempt to control it; yet inflation rates climb higher. The insidious nature of inflation calls for specific solutions.

Seen in the light of spiritual reasoning, inflation is an aggressive attempt to break the law of God and, through fear, enthrone matter. But even if inflation seems ominous, it can be stopped. Christian Science enables us to conquer this problem through consistent reliance on the spiritual counter facts regarding inflation and its seeming control of our lives. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Christian ideas certainly present what human theories exclude—the Principle of man's harmony. The text, 'Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die,' not only contradicts human systems, but points to the self-sustaining and eternal Truth." Science and Health, p. 170;

Study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings provides ample ammunition to dispute this economic enemy and gain the victory for Spirit. One way to discover lasting solutions is to consider inflation's currently debated causes and refute them with specific scientific truths. For example, the following suggestions and their spiritual counter facts could be included as a part of healing treatment for inflation. However, they should not be construed as a formula. Each one's approach to prayer should be inspired.
