Not long after I began serious study of Christian Science, I took a job that gave me excellent opportunities to see and to demonstrate the power of God, Principle. As a meeting planner, my assignment was to design, site, promote, and help execute a new national workshop series on photography—all within nine months. Normally, a project of this scope would take a year for the preparation alone. I also had to price, structure, budget, and market the workshop series; and a four-hundred-page manual was to be written and produced. It was clear to me that only through God's help could I accomplish all this and that I needed to stay very close to Him.
In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy states (p. 463): "To attend properly the birth of the new child, or divine idea, you should so detach mortal thought from its material conceptions, that the birth will be natural and safe." With the encouragement and support of a Christian Science practitioner, I endeavored wholeheartedly to do just this. I undertook a very thorough study of the meaning and the nature of God as Principle. This study orchestrated and punctuated every major forward step in my new project and in my life at that time.
I set about to chart and implement this activity. I recognized that its source was in divine Principle, and that the remuneration I received was evidence of Love's provision at a time when my mother and brother both needed financial support because of illness. Because it was clear to me that God initiates all action, I knew that He supplies the qualities necessary to realize the completeness of His activity. The requirement of me was willingness to be His humble and obedient servant.
