FROM THE DIRECTORS

From the July 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

New appointments

Trustee

The Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society, with the concurrence of The Christian Science Board of Directors, is pleased to announce that effective May 1, 1982, Beulah M. Roegge, C. S. B., of Chicago, Illinois, was appointed as Trustee of the Publishing Society, succeeding Michael A. West.

Mr. West, who has been serving so ably as Trustee of the Publishing Society and Treasurer of The Mother Church since January 1981, will continue as Treasurer. The increased coordination between the Publishing Society and the Treasurer's Office made possible by Mr. West's dual role has proved to be of substantial benefit to both activities.

Mrs. Roegge has been serving with distinction as Associate Editor of The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science. Her prior service included being a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, and Field Assistant for the Department of Branches and Practitioners (now the Church Activities Department) of The Mother Church. Mrs. Roegge has been in the full-time public practice of Christian Science since 1962 and became an authorized teacher of Christian Science in 1976. She is a member of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Evanston, Illinois.

Associate Editor

To replace Mrs. Roegge as Associate Editor we are pleased to announce that Carolyn B. Swan, C. S. B., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was appointed June 1.

As author of frequent articles in the periodicals over the years, Mrs. Swan is already known to many readers. She is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Norman, where she majored in music with a minor in English. Following several years in general office work, she entered the full-time public practice of Christian Science in 1963 and became an authorized teacher of Christian Science in 1967. Mrs. Swan is a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Oklahoma City, where she has served in many capacities.

Mrs. Swan's editorials will begin appearing in October issues of the Sentinel and Journal, and subsequently in the Heralds.
