In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 234): "Whatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love—be it song, sermon, or Science—blesses the human family with crumbs of comfort from Christ's table, feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty."
In testimonies people often express gratitude for hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. This testimony, however, expresses gratitude for a different type of song that I believe was a definite factor in my becoming receptive to a change in thought which resulted in acquiring our new home.
During the spring of 1981 my wife and I were faced with the problem of finding another place to live, though we desired to remain in the same city. The rent on the duplex where we lived was very reasonable. We had been there a number of years and were helpful to the owner in many ways. However, the owner told us that she might need that duplex for herself in the future, and so we felt it was wise to look for another place to live. Being generous, she had told us in advance of her need. Still, we trusted the truth of these words (Science and Health, p. 206): "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all, as Jesus showed with the loaves and the fishes,—Spirit, not matter, being the source of supply."
