Christian Science treatment: what it is and how it works

From the November 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Perhaps the most noted feature of Christian Science is its reinstatement of the practice of Christian healing. This healing is more than a mere by-product of the teachings of Christian Science. It is the evidence or proof, through specific, scientific treatment, that Christian Science is a true explication of Christ Jesus' teachings.

Isn't treatment just what a Christian Scientist calls prayer?

Not exactly. While treatment is a particular form of prayer, it should be noted that not all prayer is treatment. Prayer, in its broadest sense, is one's conscious communion with God, a recognition of His goodness, presence, and power; and it is an active effort to live in accord with this godliness. This we should do without ceasing.
