Have you ever felt that the Bible was of secondary importance to you as a Christian Scientist? That you were much more interested in the "Science" than the "Christianity" of Christian Science?
As a young man I definitely felt that way. In fact, although readings from the Bible, together with those from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, are central in Christian Science church services, I regarded the Bible as only a sort of backdrop or preparation for the "really important" message from Science and Health. After all, it was the logic of the Science of Christianity that had made me a committed member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, and it seemed to me that the Bible just didn't speak in the clear language of logic. It spoke in a literary language of symbols and parables that I couldn't quite relate to scientific truth.
But I was wrong in all respects and found it out the hard way!
