Poems

The garment of gratitude

From the November 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Never leave it in the closet —
that is not its proper place—
let it clothe your total being.
Wear it with unfettered grace—

formed of fabric soft as zephyr
yet as strong as welded steel,
woven with the warp of promise
crossed with woof of heaven's seal.

Wear it always, every moment
knowing nothing can destroy
its seamless, flawless, sure protection.
Wear it with unmeasured joy!
