Expressing gratitude for God's perfect day

From the November 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Living out God's perfect day—every day—is possible to anyone who (1) consciously and gratefully surrenders himself to God each morning, and (2) understandingly rejects negative influences that seem to come up during the day. Christian Science shows us how we can make this Biblical promise a daily reality: "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."Ps. 118:24.

The often-used phrase "have a nice day" doesn't express as high a goal as we can attain. We should strive to be alert, to be receptive for the spiritual, perfect day. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy gives the spiritual signification of "day," which begins: "The irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea of Truth and Love."Science and Health, p. 584.

In expressing gratitude to God for His radiant day, whether before rising in the morning or when retiring at night, one can experience many wonderful blessings—God-motivated inspiration, divine guidance, and enduring protection. In fact, Mrs. Eddy promises"... if you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science,—namely, that man's harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe,—you cannot awake in fear or suffering of any sort."Retrospection and Introspection, p. 61.
