Recently we had our kitchen completely...

From the January 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently we had our kitchen completely renovated, along with installation of a new window. One Wednesday evening my husband was in the process of putting up new brackets for the curtains when he was called away. When I returned that night from the testimony meeting of our branch church, I decided to surprise him by completing the job.

In order to reach the top of the window frame, I used one of the kitchen chairs that has a removable seat cushion. I climbed up and down several times with no problem. However, the last time I got down from the chair, the cushion slipped, and before I knew what was happening, I found myself on the floor in excruciating pain. Immediately I declared aloud that there are no accidents in divine Mind. I knew that God's—divine Mind's—allness precluded discord as powerful or real.

I was unable to move, so I lay there affirming my present perfection as the child of God and knowing that nothing could interfere with God's harmonious kingdom. Soon I was able to sit up. But I could not move one of my arms at all. There was evidence that it was broken. When my husband returned, he wanted to take me to a hospital, but I requested that he let me work out the problem in Christian Science.
