THE CHURCH IN ACTION

Asking God for direction improves church government

From the March 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One of a series of articles on democracy in branch churches. Written by a member of The Mother Church.

Asking is often a prerequisite for listening and hearing answers. If we do not want to ask for someone else's view, it is generally because we really do not want to hear what he has to say.

In our relationship with divine Mind, God, we hear His communications to us more clearly if we sincerely turn to Him for guidance—and then we are willing to listen. By asking God's direction, we are acknowledging that the human mind of itself does not have the right answers; we are turning to infinite Mind, the source of all real knowledge, the highest and only authentic source we can turn to for help.
