THE CHURCH IN ACTION

ACTION IN THE FIELD

From the August 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A Christian Science Reading Room provides many services: it offers a place to ask questions about Christian Science; you can also buy or borrow the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy; it's a good place to study with the help of useful Bible reference books; it provides an inspired atmosphere for prayer—a place where you also can go for quiet communion with God when facing a crisis.

A young woman found she was expecting a child as a result of rape. At first the situation appeared to be an impossible dilemma—no alternative seemed to be the right solution. She was a Christian Scientist and she prayed to know what to do. Her prayer led to deep feelings of forgiveness. And because of complicated circumstances, she decided not to bring legal charges.
