A time of spiritual renewal

Christian Science Students Association meetings

From the August 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Is your Christian Science Students Association meeting a date reserved on your calendar? How grateful every class-taught student of Christian Science can be for this special day! It is more than just a happy occasion, as it promises a renewal of the essence of class teaching. Attending the association meeting is a privilege no student can afford to miss.

The word association conveys the thought of companionship, or closeness to others having common purposes. In a spiritual sense our true association is a daily companionship with God and His ideas. In Isaiah we find the promise "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."Isa. 41:10. As we establish this companionship with our Father-Mother God, we feel His closeness as a very much-loved and understanding friend. In this relationship the human yields to the divine. Such coincidence is attained only through prayer.

Students associations exist to support and sustain the great need for spiritual growth. "What we most need," Mrs. Eddy tells us, "is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds."Science and Health, p. 4.
