What is our duty to God?

From the August 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many Christians and others as well are searching for something higher than themselves. They yearn naturally for that deeper understanding of God which will ultimately satisfy their innermost cravings. In order to overcome the distractions that present themselves in our daily lives and tend to prevent the attainment of a peaceful existence, we must progress Spiritward. This is our duty to our Father, God.

Duty is proper behavior owed to a higher power. In this case the power is God. Living up to our duty to God is a serious responsibility. As a matter of fact, members of The Mother Church are admonished in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy not to be made to neglect or forget their duty to God.See Man., Art. VIII, Sect. 6.

"But," you may say, "I don't forget God for one minute, nor neglect Him ever. God is impossible to ignore because He is the very depth of my being." Yes, in reality, this is true.
