It has been many years since my first testimony was published. I feel impelled once again to express my gratitude for the guidance and blessings I've received through the study of Christian Science. The weekly Bible Lessons, the Christian Science periodicals, church membership, and Christian Science class instruction have been vital factors in forwarding my progress, and my gratitude for the loving help at different times of Christian Science practitioners is unbounded.
Some years ago when my mother was in her eighties, she became fearful that something might happen which would force her to go to a hospital. In fact, this worried her considerably. (She loved Science and wanted to depend on God alone in every need she might have.) At that time I was meeting my mother in the city for lunch every week. Each time we met, we would talk about God and His love for her and all His children. We discussed the fact that because He is totally good and loves each of us dearly, He would never allow her out of His care. Gradually she lost the fear that something untoward might occur and began to feel peace in place of anxiety. This understanding sustained me, too. When my mother passed on quietly at home about a year later, there was no sense of loss; I felt only the comfort of knowing that God was caring for her, and gratitude for the love we had shared over many years.
I have had many healings in Christian Science. One time I was going to practice the organ at my branch church. There was a steep hill on the way, and as I was walking up the footpath I saw a girl riding a bicycle at the top. I paid no further attention to it and continued on my way. The next time I looked up, the bicycle was careering toward me. It hit me head-on and I was thrown to the ground.
