When Mrs. Eddy was healed through her discovery of Christian Science, she became a lively witness for the matchless effects of her discovery. In three similar passages in her writings she lists some major advantages of healing through spiritual means and without material aid.See Miscellaneous Writings 33:21-9; 255:17-5; Retrospection and Introspection 34:10-21 Although the wordings of these passages differ slightly, they agree substantially on the three points briefly summarized here:
• Christian Science healing turns away from dependence on matter, through the realization that mortal mind is the cause of disease and divine Mind is its cure.
• Science is more effectual and safer than medication.
