Are we willing to labor?

From the September 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A love of Church and a willingness to serve it follow naturally from a growing understanding of God and our relationship to Him. Many are happy to attend church services regularly and to love and learn the great spiritual truths from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. But greater demands should be expected by the student of Christian Science as he advances spiritually.

The purpose of our Church is to elevate and to redeem mankind. Mrs. Eddy gives this definition of Church: "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.

"The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick." Science and Health, p. 583.
