How does church bless us?

From the September 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As a new bride in an unfamiliar town, I was longing for more companionship and activity. This I found when I joined the small branch Church of Christ, Scientist, in the community. It became a second home to me, and I felt part of a precious family.

Although I had known and loved Christian Science all my life, this was my first branch church experience. My education began! When I accepted committee assignments, I started seeing how church membership fosters spiritual growth and unselfishness.

For example, an inspirational meeting was to be held for a forthcoming church-sponsored lecture. I was away visiting my parents, but I had brought along my church letter with the references for study from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy. As I read, I felt great love for my branch church, coupled with gratitude for The Mother Church and for Christian Science. I prayed for the meeting, for the lecture, and for the receptivity of all who would be attending.
