Having been raised in a family whose members turned to Christian Science for solutions to all kinds of problems, I have witnessed many wonderful healings and experienced healing myself. I am most grateful for the spiritual foundation that Christian Science gave me, for it helped me recognize that true Christianity is indeed a Science each of us can prove in his or her own life. This specific fact became clear to me through the following experience.
During examination week of the fall term of my freshman year in college, I woke one morning feeling ill. I had completed two exams earlier in the week but had one more to take—an English exam.
I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School and from study of the weekly Bible Lesson found in the Christian Science Quarterly that illness is not based on God's law but is a form of the aggressive suggestion that man is created materially. Christian Science teaches that man is created entirely spiritual, in the image and likeness of God, as stated in the first chapter of Genesis.
