How much I have for which to be grateful! I was five years old and one of six children when a neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, introduced my mother to this teaching by lending her some Christian Science literature. Soon my mother borrowed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from the local library.
Mother was a longtime member of another denomination, and although she had had deep reservations about what she had been taught, she found the teachings of Science difficult to accept. Once while reading Science and Health, she actually threw the book down, determined never to read it again. But soon she picked it up and read on. In fact, Mother read the book through several times and had what was to her an amazing instantaneous healing of a bad burn.
Before long we children were enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School of the branch church that my parents had begun attending. From that time on, our family relied solely on Christian Science for healing, and many illnesses associated with childhood as well as the effects of accidents were overcome.
