Demonstration is individual

From the August 1987 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Do you sometimes feel entangled in a welter of limiting opinions about your healing work? Maybe these are even your own opinions! Do you tend to measure what you see as your not-too-outstanding accomplishments against others' splendid progress—and come out the loser?

Well, you can stop. Weighing and comparing our knowledge of Christian Science would certainly not have set well with Mrs. Eddy. She taught that one person's demonstration of the truth is not controlled by anyone else's. Each student is free to proceed at his own pace, governed only by the degree of his certainty of God's allness and ever-presence.

Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health, "Some individuals assimilate truth more readily than others, but any student, who adheres to the divine rules of Christian Science and imbibes the spirit of Christ, can demonstrate Christian Science, cast out error, heal the sick, and add continually to his store of spiritual understanding, potency, enlightenment, and success."
Science and Health, p. 462.
