In 1955 a growth developed on my neck for which two doctors recommended immediate surgery. A dear friend, a Christian Scientist, knowing of my reluctance to have an operation, suggested I try Christian Science. Although I had never thought about doing this, I respected what I had heard of the teachings of Science.
I went to a neighborhood Christian Science Reading Room, where I bought a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The librarian there pointed out the listing of practitioners in an issue of the Journal and showed me how to read the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly.
The Christian Science practitioner I called said he would gladly pray for me. Meanwhile I studied my new book—Science and Health—along with the Bible. I don't now recall when the healing took place, but one morning as I was dressing I noticed that the growth was gone! I was overjoyed and very grateful to God for this healing and for the practitioner who had worked so faithfully for me in prayer. Throughout the years, Christian Science has been very dear to me and has helped me in solving problems of all kinds.
