Identity discovery

From the May 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To him that overcometh will I give. . . a white stone,
and in the stone a new name written, which no man
knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

(Revelation 2:17)

I have been given a white stone!
Its flawlessness and perfect purity hint simply
at the power of its worth.

"Oh, stones," a mocker cries,
"there are plenty of those!"
But, oh, what he doesn't know!

Within this gem of Spirit's hallowed giving
I see the holy markings of a fresh, new self.
The mounting, God-empowered glory of true living
leads me to triumphant gain of sacred wealth.

Perhaps you have seen my stone—a glimpse here, a gaze there.
But I have it on excellent authority
that there lives beneath its surface
a name—the very essence of my being—
which Life alone reveals to me.

Now, your white stone. . . .
Ah, there's a message for you.
Read it!
(It's true.)
