Facing the influence of "universal belief"

From the January 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When seeking healing through Christian Science, we may sometimes feel that we're being challenged by the whole world. Millions of people may believe that a particular physical problem is unstoppable or can be cured only through recourse to certain material means.

So why depend on prayer for healing when it puts one in such a minority position? Why depend on something that much of the world considers impractical or unreliable?

The answer goes far beyond blind faith. It involves a stirring deep within which tells us that depending on God for healing is the natural thing to do. It involves recognizing the saving practicality of God's love as proved by Christ Jesus. It involves discerning that the popularity of a conviction isn't evidence of its validity.
