Some thoughts on the Lesson-Sermon

From the August 1992 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Not just a collection of familiar, oft-read passages,
half-remembered
and occasionally used during the speeding hours
of a busy day;
but—
the thing most needed,
exceeding in significance all we think is waiting for our attention.
These words, the Word.
An open fount, perpetually refreshing,
washing the dust of ancient—and current—misconceptions
from world-weary thought.
This truth, a pure light—shining so persistently,
that more and more we cry,
"I see!"
This teaching to go with us on our daily rounds;
filling consciousness with peace,
forever wakening us to hear
and joyfully obey the divine commands
that move us forward.
