I feel blessed to be a student of the Science of Christianity. I respect the fact that Mrs. Eddy named her discovery "Christian Science" and that we can practice it in our daily lives.
Before our family had heard of Christian Science, a doctor told my mother, following an operation, that a nerve had been severed and that she would no longer have normal elimination. She was devastated, and suffered for many years. Then mother took up the study of Christian Science, and one day when I returned home I heard her singing a hymn. She told me she had visited a Christian Science practitioner that afternoon, and had felt something move in her abdomen when the practitioner was praying for her. She knew she was healed. It was a joyous thing for all our family to see permanent healing of this condition, which we had thought was incurable.
One time I was healed of a broken foot. I had tripped over an electrical cord and come down hard on one foot in order to keep from falling completely. I had walked on it for several days, not realizing the seriousness of the injury. When it grew worse, I decided to have an X-ray taken, which revealed a broken bone that was also out of place. The podiatrist suggested an operation to set and pin the bone, but I told him I was a Christian Scientist and wanted to pray for healing. He expressed doubts that Christian Science could solve this problem and said I could be crippled if the bone were not set properly.
