New Editor of The Christian Science Monitor

From the October 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

On July 20, The Christian Science Board of Directors announced the election of a new Editor of The Christian Science Monitor who would also oversee the Monitor's radio news broadcasts. It is the first time that both the paper and the Monitor's radio activities will report to the same Editor.

In a news release issued on the day of the new appointment, J. Anthony Periton, a member of the Board of Directors and Editor in Chief of The Christian Science Publishing Society, said: "Our newspaper and our radio news activities both share the goal of unselfish service through journalism. The Christian Science Board of Directors is recognizing the unity of these two expressions of Monitor ideals by their appointment of the first Editor to oversee both our broadcast and print activities."

David Cook, who had been serving as Editor of Monitor Broadcasting, also assumed the editorship of The Christian Science Monitor effective August 1, 1994. Richard J. Cattani, who edited the Monitor since 1988, was named the newspaper's Editor-at-Large and will continue to contribute to the paper.
