Most of us well know that we cannot always believe what we see. We know that at times something we thought to be true has turned out to be completely false.
In Christian Science we learn not to depend on material appearances but rather to acknowledge the allness of God, Spirit, as the only cause and substance of all that is real. An understanding of this basic truth, which has brought comfort and healing to so many, serves to expose the deceptive nature of whatever would suggest God's absence, enables us to reverse that suggestion and to see revealed in its place that which is right and good for all.
This doesn't mean that we close our eyes to evil. What it does mean is that the mortal sense of existence, with its mix of right and wrong, ups and downs, and beginnings and endings, is not the truth of man's existence. And to the degree that we understand that man's eternal status is the image of God, as recorded in the first chapter of Genesis, we find our experience coinciding with the natural goodness of God's perfect spiritual creation.
