Science and Health: Heart to heart

From the October 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

How do we know when it's right to share Science and Health? A recent letter described one member's approach. He told us, "For me, setting the stage for sharing requires most of all having the humble willingness and readiness to share (even if it means just being willing to be seen in public with Science and Health!), along ... ... with a sincere desire to listen for God's guidance.

"One night as I was driving home with a colleague, he asked if I used medicine when I was sick. I felt very comfortable explaining how I go about healing physical challenges through prayer. During the ensuing discussion about Christian Science, he asked many good questions, including if Mrs. Eddy had any writings. I had a copy of Science and Health in the car, which I handed to him. After we talked a little bit about what was in the book, my friend said, 'This is a truth that's beyond the merely human, isn't it? I was going to be taking a course in healing through visualization, but I'll read this book instead.' He seemed to know intuitively that there was more to be gained in healing through reading this book than through taking the kind of course he had described.
