During this time when we hear so much about homelessness and lack, I'd like to bear witness to the many proofs of God's loving provision we had when my husband and I were raising our family.
As a child I had always relied on God for healings and guidance; but, as a grandmother and an aunt were Christian Science practitioners, I didn't do a lot of the praying for myself until my own children arrived. Then I began to study the weekly Bible Lessons actively and to try to practice what these Lessons were teaching me. One of my favorite Bible verses states: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Prov. 3:5, 6). I have proved this promise true many, many times.
While living in Nevada, I wanted my husband and three children to have a balanced diet; on our income that was quite a challenge. Many times I would find we did not have a vegetable, fruit, or meat for that day or the next. However, I was always confident that God would provide what we needed when we needed it—and He always did.
