Testimonies of Healing

I am not a member of the...

From the September 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am not a member of the Christian Science Church, but have attended with my family for many years. I've seen many healings and have had many myself. For the most part they have involved business problems, solved with the help of Christian Science practitioners.

A recent experience I had happened on a visit to Mexico. While swimming I was caught in a strong undertow that carried me a thousand feet from where I had been. I cried for help, but no one heard me. And as I was being pulled underwater (for the last time, I felt), the statement "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" came to me (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494). At that instant, a hand reached out to pull me out of what looked like a deathtrap. It was the hand of a lifeguard from another hotel. We could not speak each other's language, but I felt compassion and love from him as he helped me to safety.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am to God for being "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1), and to Mrs. Eddy for making Christian Science available.
