Even though I had experienced many healings as a young person when my parents or a practitioner would pray for me, there came a time when Christian Science didn't seem to satisfy all my needs. This was especially the case when I would pray for myself, without the help of others.
I decided to resign from the branch church I was attending and explore other religions and systems.
I was no longer praying for myself, and my health, which had been fairly good up until this time, began to change. Soon I was looking to medical means for relief from various physical problems. During subsequent years away from Christian Science, I had more frequent periods of illness, and worse general health, than ever before. This included seasonal allergies and numerous colds. At least once a year I had severe bouts with the flu. At other times I experienced extreme depression and fatigue. Medical methods of coping with these health problems sometimes did bring temporary relief, but nothing was consistent or provided permanent healing.
