Several years ago I suddenly started having very severe pain in one of my knees; I couldn't move it at all. These passages from Isaiah were part of the week's Bible Lesson: "Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees" (35:3); and "Unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear" (45:23).
I continued to give thought to the act of kneeling: a leper once knelt down at Jesus' feet and asked to be healed; Daniel prayed three times a day and knelt down, praising and thanking his God. Jesus knelt down when he prayed at Gethsemane. I saw that kneeling means being humble, willingly inclining to God, full of dedication and reverence for Him.
We read in Psalms, "Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him" (33:8). To stand in reverence before Him, the creator, is extremely important when we are praying daily for ourselves.
