"Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee" (Job 22:21). I became acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science when I was in deep mourning for my mother, who had passed away a few days previously. In her desire to comfort me, a good friend took me to a Christian Science lecture. As I sat listening, I heard the lecturer speak about the fatherhood and motherhood of God, and I felt a great sense of peace.
Thereafter I had a great desire to attend Christian Science church services and began to study the weekly Bible Lessons. (I might mention here that up to the time I was married, the Bible had been a closed book.) Simply by reading the Bible and Science and Health I was healed of chronic colds and coughs, and also of constipation. I laid aside glasses I'd worn for a number of years; an optometrist had predicted that by the time I reached middle age I would be blind in my right eye, and I am now past middle age and see better today than when I was a young girl.
My husband passed away, after ten years of marriage, leaving me to care for our two small children. Soon it became evident that I would have to return to work in order to support us. I was grateful that our children were already Sunday School pupils and had been learning who their real Father was. Christian Science helped us all to look to the Father for our care and guidance.
