The dove's dry land

Genesis 8:6-12, Matthew 3:13-17

From the January 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To be the dove's dry land!
To have humility enough to be a resting place
for the descent of the Holy Ghost.
To be pure and unselfed enough,
yielding and obedient enough,
to receive the divine power,
heal under divine authority.

Father-Mother God—
Let the swelling waves of worldliness,
the agitated and excited, competitive and fearful
surging floods of materialism
Drop down lower. . . and still lower.
Let the waters of self be assuaged,
Leaving in the midst the higher ground—
the resting place,
the reflected heart of Love—
where God will always lead the seeking dove.
