Let divine Mind define health to you

From the January 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At one time I became very unwell. My husband cared for me, took the children to school, and even dashed home from work at lunchtime to give me meals. Such was my condition that I was unable to read or study, but I was able to pray for myself. I spent long hours recalling many of the truths of God and man that I'd learned over the years. What a storehouse of spiritual facts was there when I desperately needed them!

Consecrated treatment from a dedicated Christian Science practitioner played a vital role in the healing process. I felt too ill to talk to her, but she shared ideas with my husband, who relayed them to me. I don't recall any mention of what the disease might be or discussion of the physical symptoms. The illness was healed, and what remains in my memory is not the name of a disease, but what I learned about the effectiveness of prayer to change the material evidence, and renewed assurance that spiritual healings are complete and permanent. Our health is safe when completely left in God's hands.

Healings such as this are landmarks in the lives of those who experience them, as well as those who witness them. They reinforce the conviction that spiritual power is more than adequate to break the hold of materially based theories.
