About a year ago, one evening we were getting our seven-year-old son ready for bed, he complained that his neck hurt. As we do for all our needs, we turned in prayer to God for healing. We talked with our son of God's care for His children, and affirmed that nothing imperfect could interfere with this care.
In the morning there was swelling behind our son's ears and neck. He could not turn his head or open his mouth without difficulty. We called a Christian Science practitioner to help us with further prayer. When I called her, I was met with her great confidence in God's love for our son.
The citations we studied in Science and Health assured us of the allness of God, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter. Mrs. Eddy writes,"As God is substance and man is the divine image and likeness, man should wish for, and in reality has, onlythe substance of good, the substance of Spirit, not matter" (p. 301).
