"The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore" (Ps. 121:7, 8). These comforting words from the Bible helped me a great deal in 1985 when I was transferred to another city. I went to assume a new post in the firm that employed me.
At the time of the departure I felt a strong pain in my eyes, which began to water. I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner, asking for help through prayer. The practitioner reminded me that sight is actually not physical but spiritual and that I, in my true nature as the expression of God, could never be deprived of perfect vision.
I could not manage to read at all during the trip, but I prayed silently the Lord's Prayer, with its spiritual interpretation given by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health. This part stood out to me:
