A church designed for world salvation

From the November 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Working lovingly within church promotes constant growth Christward. We lose our rough edges (self-will, self-righteousness) like gems polished in a revolving vat, to find that God, Love, and His spiritual offspring have no abrasive edges.

Mary Baker Eddy founded a framework of church organization within which individuals can grow in Christian love for worldwide blessing. She wrote, "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass., is designed to be built on the Rock, Christ; even the understanding and demonstration of divine Truth, Life, and Love, healing and saving the world from sin and death; thus to reflect in some degree the Church Universal and Triumphant." Manual of The Mother Church, p. 19. This merciful plan ushers in heaven on earth.

Many people who have started this heavenly journey gather in church, witnessing to God's power to express Himself to receptive hearts. Those who journey say through their lives as well as through their encouraging words, "Come join us; all are welcome; all are needed in the exalted work of demonstrating divine Science." This Science unveils God's eternal design, Love's perfectly good creation, complete but ever unfolding.
