"How I study the Bible Lesson —and put it into practice"

From the December 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This feature gives readers an opportunity to share with one another helpful approaches to their study of the Bible Lessons published in the Christian Science Quarterly, and how they put what they learn into practice in their lives. These Bible Lessons consist of references from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

I can hardly wait for Monday mornings, when I dig deeply into a fresh Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly. What might come to fuller bloom in my life from pondering this week's message?

I find it's a help in understanding the main points of the Lesson to jot down some notes for each of the six sections on my first reading. From the Bible: what I think God is demanding of me or promising me through a psalm or parable or Bible character's experience. From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: ... whatever jumps out showing why it's so important to pay attention to those Bible teachings, especially since whatever is being described in the Scriptures is bound to have a parallel in my own life.
