Diamonds on the water

From the December 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Sparkles rippling through the water;
Radiant sunshine dancing on the lake;
Bright beams, shimmering like shooting stars
In zigzag motion;
Rays of sun caught in flight
On mirrored surface,
Flashing diamonds, evoking pure joy.

Man is infinitely more—pure expression of Love,
Imaging God, resplendent with His glory,
Sparkling with intelligence,
As His reflection of Himself.

No cloudy belief of matter-selfhood
Can obstruct the rays of Spirit,
Dim the light of Truth,
Nor deflect Love's active purpose.
Unselfed love is Love's purpose,
Not "here and there," but everywhere—
Unselfed love, radiant with the nature of God.

As we see hint of Love's glory dancing on the water,
We can hear Love's Word inspiring ascending thought,
Calling to forsake a matter-self;
And we can respond, always, in all ways,
To Love's vibrant, illuminating presence.
