Testimonies of Healing

Teeming with ideas

From the March 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Teeming with ideas. How delightful! This concept of pregnant helped me see that instead of being a time-consuming, burdensome biological process, pregnancy expresses joyous spiritual development, demonstrating God as the only creator.

During my first pregnancy, weekly visits with a Christian Science practitioner helped me gain a more spiritual sense of creation and a deeper trust in God. Our state law required that a medical doctor be in attendance at childbirth, and since I couldn't find one who was willing to attend a home confinement, I engaged a doctor for a hospital delivery.

At my second visit, the doctor expressed concern that my blood type might cause a certain complication for the baby once it was born. When I told this to the practitioner, she said she would pray specifically about it. In reality, I knew, both the child and I are sustained by God, not matter, and God's ideas cannot harm one another. The baby never experienced the predicted difficulty, and no medical treatment was required.
