Be still

From the June 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Once stormy seas of mortal life
appeared so real to me.
I tossed within its turbulence,
while struggling to be free.

And just when tides of hope seemed low,
submerged by error's din,
I heard the still, small voice of Truth,
"Your calmness lies within."

Those words of God dispelled false fears;
they spoke of heavenly peace.
The Christ became a beacon light
that led to my release.

Refuse to ride the waves of will;
your harbor lies in prayer,
O listen to your Father's voice
and trust His tender care.

Strong faith and hope are constant prayers
that hush all mortal strife.
Accept, loved child, what God provides
and rest, sustained in Life.
