Why limit?

From the June 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Yes—why limit ourselves? One of my favorite Bible verses is in Psalms where we read, "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me." Ps. 138:8. He will perfect it—not merely enable us barely to get by. And that Bible verse reassures us all that He "will perfect that which concerneth" us. God does not play favorites.

Is that really true when you see so many good people today lacking so many things?

Yes, it is true, and it is possible to see it proved in our experience. Christian Science helps us all recognize that we simply don't have to accept any limited concept of life. Christ Jesus himself said: "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. ... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:9, 10. And he proved this time and time again in all sorts of ways, expecting us to follow suit. He said quite plainly, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." John 14:12.
