Campus CSOs: it's easy to be involved!

(Part one)

From the September 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What's the purpose of a Christian Science organization (CSO)? Who can be involved in one? What possibilities are open to students, faculty, and instructors who want to introduce the message of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to their campus? The CSO Activities in the Office of the Clerk at The Mother Church receives a lot of questions like these from Journal readers around the world. And the successes of CSOs from Australia to Uruguay are illustrating the practical answers to these questions in dynamic ways! Here are some questions and answers:

How do I start a CSO?

By having a love for the Bible and the practical message of science and Health. At the core of CSO activity is the desire to help fellow classmates, professors, and administrators know that there are accessible and powerful laws of God relevant to every aspect of university life. If you're responding to others in this way, take a look at the By-Law "Privilege of Members," Art. XXIII, Sect. 8, of the Manual of The Mother Church. It specifies that those who form a CSO need to be faculty, instructors, or students at a university or college, and that they need to be Mother Church members.
