Letters

From the September 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In The Christian Science Journal's report on the second Harvard "Spirituality & Healing in Medicine" conference, it was encouraging to see Christian Science publicly acknowledged as playing an important role in the field of spirituality and healing. The fact that the conference expressed deep respect for the Bible and for the writings of Mary Baker Eddy is a cause for much gratitude. The conference—and its continuing impact on the fields of theology and medicine—is an expression of humanity's awakening to the fact that "it is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing" (John 6:63).

The feature "Inspiration and healing—at midweek testimony meetings" in the February issue of the Journal brought tears of repentance to my eyes and washed away past events not worth repeating in any sense. I am so grateful that, through prayer, I have been able to realize God's law as good. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health, "The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man" (p. 128). I am learning that God is always governing in Truth and Love.
